Ok so most of us here are fans of Apples ipod and most of us have one. And we all enjoyed many good times with our ipods on lonely winter nights. The world was a better place with them. They gave us back the will to live.
But lately Im more than a little pissed at mine.
1. My ipod is consistanly dying and I have to keep upgrading system software. Its wank
2. DRM is a fucking bitch. it means music I buy and have rights to, i can only play on my fucking ipod. Bollocks if I buy a Cd i can play that shit where i like, why does this have to be different? I want to stream my music to my xbox but half of it dont show up cos its drm'ed. btw there are ways around this cos its not apple that put the drm on its itunes and you can now download direct from apple using other software and avoid the drm. doesnt solve my existing music though.
3. itunes is wank. fucking java stinks. eats up all resources on my pc. Fuck off java you tossers.
4. volume is piss poor on ipod. I want it fucking louder!!!!!
Good news is microsoft are at last releasing what they are callign death of the ipod.
The new player called Zune will include massive colour screen, wi-fi, bluetooth, 30 GB, connectivity to xbox live to play games, xbox, no drm and looks to die for and will be cheaper than ipod. Hooray for MS.

Im getting one, then putting 5 10" masonary nails through mine and im going to enjoy it immensely as my ipod makes that stupid "I'm broken again" face and then dies.
As for Apple, curl up and die like you should have done 10 years ago.

I have a £9.99 tesco mp3 player, it only holds 4 albums but that's more than enough for me to listen to when I walk to the supermarket at lunch!! I did want an ipod but then I wouldn't really use it, sounds like i've saved myself some money there!
I have a iRiver, again a microsoft product, takes a bit of time to boot up when you first tune it on, but has 40GB and radio tuner so i can listen to radio 1 at work. Also doubles as a sneaky extrnal HDD when i need it to. And so far it has never died on me

I just googled it, looks sort of like an ipod but more bland. I'll stick with my tesco one for the time being :)

DRM allows you to burn your music to cd up to 7 times. Just rip your music and then re-encode it... it's very simple and i've done it with some of mine that people want.
I do agree that the older iPod's are a pain after a while, battery life sucks! Just buy a 4g video one like mine, no problems!
DRM is just rubbish, I hope the french do something useful and are successful in forcing apple to remove it. No other download site promotes drm.
I know you can burn music and re-encode it but you loose quality and it takes time.
I forgot about the battery time, since i just use mine in the car now and have a charger on it all the time.
Oh its also got an inbuilt FM transmitter and Reciever, so no extra rip you gadgets to buy when you want to play it in your car or out of a mate's stereo.
Also includes 2 magents on back to allow it to stick to things or for docking and headphones.

for the record my ipod is ace :D
but i will take a gander at the new one :D
