Football

we had a Star V MessageLabs footy game last night. Drew for Star on Right Wing, me for MessageLabs at right (ahem......LEFT) wing back.

kicked off and it was 0-0 for a while until MessageLabs broke the deadlock with a cracker. around 5 mins later they scored with a cross come shot at a tight angle which curled in. if it didnt go in drew had lost his marker (ahem me) and was at the far post - well actually he slid into it in a brave attempt to make sure it went in.

the whole atmosphere was lively to say the least bad challenges - disputed corners/throw ins/handballs etc. it came to a peak about 10 mins after i was in a 50/50 challenge and had a clash of heads with a huge clumsy fool, my head spinning and finger feeling like it had broke. nobody was really playing well due to the astroturf being soaked from the 4hours of rain we had and the ball skidding everywhere, so the level of football was bad, causing the players to get even more frustrated. i went on a wee run and then got booted (nice bruise on my knee) i went ape as i was still hurting from the headbut. i went on a swearing frenzy for a few seconds. it was my 1st and only outburts and those who had done it all night told ME to calm down.....injustice ;) it is the accent makes it sound 300 times worse.....its great.

couple of minutes before 1/2 time MessageLabs went two up.

the 2nd half was just getting going when i found myself in the box, i took a low shot across goal, keeper went down and saved it. trouble was in the process of flying to the ground he dislocated his shoulder. he was on the floor for the next 30 mins at least, ambulance came to get him, so the match was abandoned and opefully there will be a rematch in a couple of weeks. I dont think Ben, J or james will come to watch that :)

I thought the goalie broke his collor bone not dislocated his shoulder.

Tosh also go his position wrong as the most amature of football pundits would point out that he was in fact left back not right if he wanted to be marking drew. I think he was caught up in the moment about telling you all he caused the keeper to go to hospital.

As for the football he is right it was pants, nothing to do with the fact that the pitch was wet, more to do with the fact that most players (repeat MOST) have the footballing ability of jonior school kids playing football, i am not saying that they were like a swarm of bees round honey, people did keep to there positions. What i am saying is that the boot and run tactics was being employed. As tosh said it was wet and even amy could have seen that that would never work. Anyway i did not see the begining of the match when they scored the goals but for the 40 mins of play i did see i wish i had not.

However i should say that there were some players that jay and i noticed were more frustrated with their team mates lack of football skills as a couple of these players did look like they could play football, but alas they could not shine cause of the pap performances of others.

I have said enough, but i may go to watch the next one anyway to see if they can play any better if it is not wet (hopefully it won't be)
